The Whole-Child Approach

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Defined by the ODE as self-awareness & management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Moms for Liberty created a guide giving an overview of SEL.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS  is an evidence-based three-tiered framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day.

In-School Based Health Centers

School-Based Health Centers are well positioned to meet the non-academic needs of Ohio’s students while supporting the whole child.

A whole child approach broadens district and school focus beyond academics to include meeting students social-emotional, physical and safety needs.

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) supports the Whole Child approach.  Per ODE, Ohio can only reach success by meeting the needs of the whole child. The Whole-Child Approach includes PBIS, SEL, and In-School Health Centers
